My summer writing goal has been a bit of a bumpy road these last few weeks! Between graduation, vacation, and a mysterious illness, I haven't had a lot of time to be writing. Now, however, I'm back and determined to still hit my 233,000 word count goal. Goals this week include finishing The Improbability of Forever and starting The Back of Wednesday. Here goes nothing!
(Note: I'm not as behind on my goal as it seems. I'd already planned to take a week off for vacation, and I've been slowly writing the other 2 weeks, although I haven't documented it on here.) WEEKLY WORD COUNT GOAL: 28,000 words
WRITING FROM LAST 3 WEEKS: 7,471 words (will be factored into meter total)
June 05:
TODAY I WROTE:
The Improbability of Forever: 3,286 words
36877 / 233000 (15.83%)
It was really hard to dive back into writing The Improbability of Forever. I'm so ready to be done with that book, so I cut an extra chapter out of the outline and I'm just trying to grin and bear the last few chapters. I can't remember the last time it's been so difficult for me to finish a book.

Took the day off and worked on the first chapter for The Back of Wednesday. The last IoF chapter is haunting me—I want it to be written but can't sit down to do it.
JUNE 07:
TODAY I WROTE:
The Improbability of Forever: 3,099 words Paper Flowers: 2,098 words {TOTAL: 5,197 words}
42074 / 233000 (18.06%)
Finally finished IoF, which is a major relief. Getting that book done was such a roadblock, and I feel a lot better about my future WIPs now that it's out of the way. Not that I didn't love Cody and Quinn...but it was a nightmare to write those last few chapters.
I have 1 bonus chapter for Paper Flowers to finish up and then I'll be totally done with that book! I'm working on the first BoW chapter, but I'm not sure about the vibe I'm getting from the story so far. We'll see. JUNE 08:
TODAY I WROTE:
Paper Flowers: 1,857 words
43931 / 233000 (18.85%)
I finally finished all work on Paper Flowers today. It was a bittersweet moment—I've been working on these characters since November 2015!
JUNE 10:
TODAY I WROTE:
The Back of Wednesday: 6,060 words
48134 / 233000 (20.66%)
It was a really productive day for The Back of Wednesday. I rewrote & finalized the first and second chapters and finished up the detailed plot summary. Still working on a detailed outline. Now that I have the plot for this figured out, I can go back to writing full-speed without taking so many breaks to finish books and start new ones.
Didn't write at all yesterday (not even sure why) so I didn't include an entry for that. I also have about 12,000 words to go until I hit my goal for this week and only one day left, so I'm not sure that that's going to happen unless I write 5 chapters tomorrow. Making a list for me so that I remember: Infiltration: chapters 14-17 Unveil: chapters 12-15 The Back of Wednesday: chapter 3 If I were to tackle 5 chapters for tomorrow, I'd do 2 in Unveil, 1 in BoW, and 2 in Infiltration. June 11:
TODAY I WROTE:
Infiltration: 4,223 words Unveil: 6,245 words {TOTAL: 10,468 words}
58602 / 233000 (25.15%)
What a great way to wrap up the week! I officially hit 25% of my summer goal and knocked a big chunk out of Infiltration and Unveil. I think 10,468 words is my record number of words written in one day.
I was so close to hitting my goal this week—I wrote 26,868 words instead of 28,000. I'm still proud of the work I did today, and next week I'm going to try to write every day so I make sure I don't fall short of a weekly goal by such a short margin. We'll see what week 5 brings!
